Ordering Phenomena in Transition Metal Oxides

Fascinations in p-d systems   

Metallic ions, especially those of transition metals, play very interseting, sometimes very crucial, roles in the electronic processes if surrounded by p electrons, as typically seen in cuprates. Characteristic examples in molecular soilds will be introduced, where ions work as localised spins in some cases while valences are fluctuating in other cases, keeping the fact in mind that situations are simlilar to some of bio-materials such as metalloproteins.
